Recorded live at Suntory Hall, a prestigious classical music hall in the heart of Tokyo, this CD is Techung's first solo recorded in Japan. Appearing on the CD is percussionist Michel Tyabji (http://limitlesssky.net/) who performed with Techung during his tour in Japan in 2009.

The survival of Tibetan culture is in great danger. Any proceeds from this CD will be used for the preservation and transmission of the traditional music and culture of Tibet and tosupport the artist's on-going work toward those ends.

Techung, well known Tibetan songwriter, performer, activist and co-founder of Chaksampa will release his new CD entitled "Techung at Suntory Hall" on April 8th, 2010. The CD, a live recording, includes video clips of live performances and will be released simultaneously in San Francisco and in Kobe, Japan.
"Techung at Suntory Hall" features many traditional Tibetan songs as well as some of Techung's original songs. Techung performs on vocals and many of the traditional Tibetan instruments which he has mastered, including dranyen, piwang, flute and drums. The CD also offers a special video clip of Techung's favorite song "Nying Thop" which translates into courage.
Techung is a passionate performer and artist who tirelessly persists on his mission of preserving the unique culture and traditions of the Tibetan people. As with all of Techung's recordings, every song promises to touch deeply the heart and soul of listeners from all walks of life and pique their interest in further explorations into the gifts of the Tibetan culture.
